For the past 19 years in Balham and Earlsfield, Skip Oliver (founder of whYoga) has been running Pregnancy Yoga Classes and training yoga teachers in the WHYOGA Pregnancy Technique™. It is her passion to cement in each woman the belief that she can have the birth she most wishes for - the birth that will lay the cornerstone of her relationship with her baby. Skip gave birth at home in1995, 1997 and 2005. During her pregnancies she took charge of her own body and made decisions for her pregnancy, labour and birth based on what she felt was best for her baby. Skip has a deep understanding of the important role that instinct plays in childbirth. The classes are informative and empowering, leading women to make the right choices for them. Skip is a trained doula and advocate of natural birth pioneer, Michel Odent, who attended her third birth. She has taught pregnancy yoga to over 3000 women. To book a class see Booking.

During pregnancy a woman shares her body with her developing child and the placenta. Through yoga she can deeply connect with her body to understand the profound significance of this union. The ‘asanas’ or postures are effective at easing tiredness, swollen ankles and shortness of breath. The emphasis on breathing makes space for the internal organs, instills mindfulness, draws a higher level of oxygen into the womb and more overtly fosters the mother and baby bond.A mother who connects with her breath in pregnancy will be able to draw upon its support during the mystery and wonder of labour and childbirth.

The classes are designated for pregnant women at all stages of pregnancy and are safe if sometimes challenging. All are welcome irrespective of experience.

For health and safety you will be required to bring your own yoga mat to all pregnancy yoga classes in Balham or Earlsfield, a yoga block (not brick) and a yoga belt.
