Expressive Movement and Mindfulness...
whYoga is Skip Oliver, assisted ably by her long-time friend, student and yoga teacher, Sandra Jack. Inspiration for each class is taken from a broad spectrum of disciplines including philosophy, the arts and of course the richness of the Hatha yoga tradition. Each class has an eclectic style and creativity. The aim is always to offer students, young and old, male and female, pregnant or post-natal the experience of variation and a deep exploration of yoga techniques including those aligned with Ayurvedic principles. Skip Oliver (E-RYT500, SYT, IYN Yoga Elder, Dip Physical Theatre, BA Eng, MA Creative Writing) has been teaching yoga in Wandsworth and training yoga teachers in how to create interesting and creative classes since 1999. She is adept at integrating those just beginning on their yoga journey and those who already have a solid practice. The classes are both dynamic and meditative and open the mind to health and self-realisation. Skip is also founder and director of Yoga Bananas and Yoga BABAnas (formerly whYoga Pregnancy Technique) and has trained over 1,500 aspiring yoga teachers in each Technique.
Quarterly Dynamic Flow Yoga Masterclass
Balham All Levels Yoga Classes ~ Monday 8pm-9.30pm
The word ‘yoga’ defines ‘unity’. A class of mixed ability yoga practitioners embraces this definition. A feeling of supported camaraderie is one of the most important elements of the Balham All Levels Yoga Class, so that the time set aside for this assisted practice is joyful, safe and moving. A new class structure and theme is explored every fortnight. Skip writes a newly choreographed class every fortnight that is flowing and lyrical. Also suitable for Pregnancy (adaptable variations given when required).
Balham Yoga Masterclasses ~ Monday 7.30pm - 9.30pm Selected Dates
Each whYoga Masterclass is held around the solstices and equinoxes. They are a powerful and focused 2-hour yoga workshop that begin with a warm-up followed by a unique sequence of yoga postures over 60 - 80 minutes, enabling progressive, deeper movement into each pose. The main body of work is followed by a warm-down and supine meditation, specifically written for the time of year.
