children's yoga classes

In this fast-paced, ever-changing world children are often deprived of the stability and stillness needed to help them grow into self-assured and grounded individuals. The ideology that surrounds Hatha Yoga; union, mindfulness and non-violence, offers the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of the material world.

Yoga for children needs to be approached very differently to the adult yoga class. Vicky relinquishes her role as a leader but instead aspires to become the ‘launch pad’ from which a child’s mind can explore and articulate its deepest imaginative desires. In this way Vicky can introduce the children to meditation, movement and storytelling in a multitude of inspiring ways, and allow the journey to unfold within the children; stopping to hear an idea or thought or story from the child’s life and learn to incorporate this into the yoga class.

Vicky is happy to teach children in their home setting but specializes in teaching yoga in schools. For the past 4 years Vicky has been commissioned by Wormholt Park Primary School for one hour a week to work with Year 6 and prepare them for the transition from primary to secondary environment. Vicky is director and founder of Yoga Bananas™ and offers children’s yoga teacher training to those with a two year solid yoga practice and yoga teachers. See www.yogabananas.com for more information.
